Spherical Treadmill for slow motion video

A white steel ball of 15 cm diameter sits on two gimbal motors and a third point.

To initialize the IMU you have to stick it to the top of the sphere and connect about 10 volts until the sphere is stable.
A quadrant Light dependent resistor LDR with a pinhole or a Photodiode BPW 34 with f=25mm lens is fixed on top of the white ball from the bottom of the LED panel at a distance of about 5 cm, depending on the size of the insect.
By adjusting the PID parameters of the gimbal controller the position of the insect is kept konstant.

The camera is Panasonic G9 in most cases with Raynox 150 and 250.
The camera is mounted on a video head Manfrotto mvh500ah.
Illumination is by LED panels with high CRI
